The University of Idaho is advancing a series of initiatives designed to elevate the quality of life for students and employees while supporting economic development and local businesses in our community. Sparked by President Green’s vision and powered by Auxiliary Services, these efforts will transform both campus and Moscow, reinforcing the university’s long-term investment in its home on the Palouse.
Projects
South Hill Neighborhood: Family and Graduate Housing Renewal
The South Hill is being reimagined as a new married and parenting housing community. As a land-grant institution, the University of Idaho welcomes students and their families as part of the Vandal community. This children- and family-first housing approach supports the diverse needs of students the university is actively recruiting as it advances toward R1 status, further strengthening its national reputation for research excellence.
Prichard Art Gallery and Downtown Engagement Space
The downtown Friendship Square facility will become the future home of the Prichard Art Gallery, along with retail space and the potential addition of a museum experience. The project is scheduled to open in late 2026 and reflects the university’s commitment to arts access, storytelling and community connection.
Red Star Coffee: A Ground-Lease Partnership with the U of I
Red Star Coffee is operating on university-owned land through a ground lease and has opened its new location adjacent to the Student Recreation Center. The grand opening took place during the week of Jan. 27–31, marking the company’s 16-year anniversary.
The Lookout Restaurant at the Vandal Golf Course
The Lookout is a new restaurant now open to the public at the University of Idaho Golf Course. It offers a welcoming space to gather, socialize and relax year-round while enjoying some of the best views on the Palouse.
Autonomous Food Delivery with Starship Robots
The University of Idaho is the first university in the state of Idaho to introduce autonomous robot food delivery. The service allows users to track a robot’s journey through the app and receive an alert upon arrival. A fleet of 15 robots delivers from Idaho Eats locations, each capable of carrying up to three grocery bags of food.
Moscow Silos: Campus-Connected Food and Community Space
The downtown Moscow silos property represents an upcoming development opportunity at the edge of campus, positioned to serve both the University of Idaho and the broader Moscow community. Part of the public 30 year long range capital plan, this area is envisioned as a place where campus life and the community naturally intersect.
